Maria: Highlights
Target: Silver, Lead, Zinc, Copper - Epithermal
Opportunity: Underground drilling from within the historic San Juan Nepomuceno Mine.
Backgrounds
This part of Mexico has been a source of precious metals since the early days of Spanish colonization. The property is home to the San Juan Nepomuceno mine which ceased production in following the 1911 Mexican revolution. Modern, at depth exploration techniques have not been applied to the test known mineralization. There are four additional mines in the surrounding area at el Monte, el Carrizal, Santa Enterrio and Flor de Mayo.
Galena has exclusive rights to the San Juan Nepocumeno exploitation concession and the three adjacent San Juan 2, 3,& 4 concessions. The current accessible mine workings extend 1440 metres and include the Socavan crosscut used as recently as the 1980s for the transfer of ore and mercury extraction.
Highlights
The 2008 drill program will take advantage of existing mine working to establish underground drill stations to test the significant, never tested at depth, “manto” unit from within the Socavon crosscut. 3000 metres of drilling and extension of the crosscut are planned and surface drilling may be undertaken to test the lateral extgension of the “manto” unit. All environmental permitting has been completed on the property.
